Spiritual Direction in the Psychedelic Renaissance, an online course presented through Spiritual Directors International.

The field of psychedelics is undergoing a “renaissance,” as the FDA has approved breakthrough psychedelic-assisted therapies to treat a range of conditions, and hallucinogenic plant medicines are becoming increasingly popular among spiritual seekers today. What impact might this new frontier have on our profession, and are we prepared to accompany those who have had transformative, or challenging, psychedelic experiences?

Nicholas Collura has written on the topic of accompanying people who have used psychedelics in Presence Journal, as well as having given a highly-regarded presentation at the 2025 SDI Conference. Now, SDI offers you the opportunity for a deeper dive with Nicholas: digging into topics and concerns, bringing your questions, and participating in a supportive learning community.

This SDI webinar series is designed to support spiritual directors and companions – indeed all spiritual caregivers — as we discern together on how important psychedelic literacy is for us as spiritual directors, as more and more contemporary seekers are gravitating towards these medicines in search of spiritual healing—and in search of God.

Please join us on this contemplative journey to grow in our calling.

Navigating Climate Spiritual Care, an online learning community presented through the BTS Center.

We are living in times of intersecting calamities, with the climate crisis adding increased instability, uncertainty, and suffering to systemic injustices including racism, inadequate healthcare, poverty, disenfranchisement, homelessness, war, the oppression of LGBTQIA+ communities — and more. No longer can those of us who offer spiritual care avoid the impacts of the climate crisis and these intersectional issues in our own settings, whether we work in health care, community chaplaincy, university settings, or within spiritual communities.

Spiritual care in this time of climate change — with so many social, emotional, and spiritual consequences resulting from such instability — is both deeply necessary and, in many ways, uncharted territory.

The BTS Center is pleased to offer this learning community, originally developed in an asynchronous format by our friends Jessica Morthorpe and Blair Nelsen, and offered by our partner Waterspirit. We will engage the materials from the Climate Pastoral Care course together as a learning community, guided by three hosts and facilitators, meeting twice each month, to deepen our understanding of the physical, emotional, mental health, and spiritual impacts of the climate crisis, and to explore how to address these impacts through the practice of spiritual care.

Ancestry and the Earth: An Advent Eco-Spiritual Retreat

Ancestry and the Earth: An Advent Eco-Spiritual Retreat presented through the Oblate School of Theology.

As the season of Advent draws us into the mystery of origins—of our faith, our world, and our calling—this retreat invites us to deepen our ecological awareness through the lens of ancestry. In our modern age, many of us experience a fragmented relationship with the earth. Yet our ancestors—biological, cultural, and spiritual—often held a deeper, more integrated understanding of the sacredness of creation.

Over three evenings, participants will explore how ancestral wisdom can inform our spiritual lives, ecological consciousness, and responsibility to future generations. Guided by reflection, prayer, and shared conversation, we will seek to reconnect with the earth through the practice of remembering those who came before us—and embracing our own role as future ancestors.

December 2, 2025 – Session 1: Invoking Our Ancestors

December 3, 2025 – Session 2: Learning from Our Ancestors

December 4, 2025 – Session 3: Becoming Ancestors, Ourselves

Laudato Si’: Vision and Reality Ten Years Later

with Bernadette Rudolph, Nicholas Collura, Marianne Comfort and Philo Morris, MMS“What [we] need is an ecological conversion, whereby the effects of [our] encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in [our] relationship with the world around [us]. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (LS, 217)
Gather with us to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Laudato Si’, the watershed document that continues to inspire and challenge us. Our panel will reflect on its far-reaching impact, explore the urgent work still before us, and consider how Pope Francis’ vision remains a guiding light today.
Together, we’ll ask: How can we live its message more deeply and bring its hope to life in our communities and our world?
